Personal History

I have lived in northern Michigan for 41 years. I have been married to Gayle for 44 years. We have three children: David Jr., Leslie, and Kelly; and two grandsons: Stephen and David III. I have coached little league baseball, boys' hockey, girls' softball, and youth bowling. In 1992 I was elected to the Alpena Bowling Hall of Fame. For the last 37 years, I have organized and run the Alpena City Open Golf Tournament. I also enjoy hunting and fishing. I am a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Political Experience
I was elected to Alpena City Council in 1991 and am serving my sixth four-year term. I served as Mayor Pro-Tem for eight years.

Work Experience
I owned and operated Superior Maintenance from 1961 until 1986. I also owned and operated WHSB Radio from 1975 until I sold it in 1994. I am an Account Manager for State Electronics/Motorola since 1996.
