Function/Description
The Harbor Advisory Committee is a citizen advisory body created and appointed by the Alpena City Council. It is a seven-member committee comprised of individuals with an interest in the operations of the City Marina and the navigable waters of the City of Alpena.

The mission of the Harbor Advisory Committee is to provide guidance and input on the operations, policies, and development of the City Marina and all navigable waters within the City of Alpena. The Harbor Advisory Committee meets on an as-needed basis, but usually once each spring prior to the start of each boating season and once each fall after the end of each boating season.

Don Gilmet, Building Official, oversees the operations of the City Marina and serves as the staff liaison to the Harbor Advisory Committee. The day-to-day operations of the City Marina are contracted to Thunder Bay Shores Marine by the City of Alpena. These Marina Managers also attend the meetings and provide consul to the Harbor Advisory Committee.
