City of Alpena Cemeteries
Evergreen Cemetery, Hebrew Cemetery, and Grace Lutheran Cemetery are located within the City limits of Alpena, Michigan, on the west side of the City on Washington Avenue, also called M-32. While three separate cemeteries, they are all managed by the City of Alpena.

History
Daniel Carter, one of the first residents of Alpena, deeded the land in the southwest portion of town for a formal burial ground, now called Evergreen Cemetery. One of the first burials there is reported to be Sahgonahkato, an Indian Chief, who, along with one other person, were the only persons buried there in 1861. The City of Alpena has administered the cemetery for many years.
